This painting, like Circulation of the Light, was done after my treatment for breast cancer, but it comes from a drawing I did before I had the surgery and radiation. When I was diagnosed, I went through a very intense period of great anguish and fear. I went away to the mountains by myself for a few days and spent time letting all my feelings out, crying, screaming, pounding, writing, drawing. The drawing for this painting came when I was beginning to feel my strong desire for life and health and wanted to mobilize all the forces for healing that were within me. The image was part of my visualizations.

The need to continue working on healing images was very strong for quite some time after I had been treated, since I still felt very vulnerable. Painting them furthered the healing process both in my body and my spirit.
