Meditating Doll

Meditating Doll
I had found a circular wooden form, probably part of a sieve; I stretched canvas on it and painted a face which is filled with animal and human shapes. Then I thought it called for a body, so I made moveable arms and legs out of masonite. For the body I meditated on each of the chakras and painted the images that appeared in my meditation.

It was exhibited at one of the Civic Center Art Festivals and was purchased by the city and hung in one of the health centers. But later I learned it was no longer hanging in a public room there; it had been moved into a private back office because “It scared the children.”

Much later I saw it in a rather dim office near Civic Center, in a lounging position, no longer meditating.

Recently I tried to locate it, to no avail. The registry of works of art owned by the city had no record of its present location.

If you see this art piece, I’d be very grateful if you’d email me!
