Krishna Dances on Kaliya
2014, acrylic on paper, 18 x 24”, by Jenny Badger Sultan
I purchased a small bronze statue of this subject in Thanjavur. Kaliya was a venomous naga who lived in the Yamuna river, poisoning the water. Krishna vanquished him, but spared his life when begged by Kaliya’s wives. Kaliya agreed to leave the area and not harass anyone.
