Death Boat
1974, watercolor, 10 x 14", by Jenny Badger Sultan
One of the paintings I did during the time my father was dying and right after his death. The quatrefoil shape came from a meditation while grieving. The figures in the boat appeared in the black center and I brought them out with light touches of colored pencil. It represents me taking my father across to the Other Side. This helped me come to terms with the fact that I had not been with him at the time of his death.First in the series was He's Flying Away--So Far, So Fast; the last is Light Comes into the Dark Place.
