This image is in very sad memory of Kabibe, the 16 month-old baby gorilla who was crushed to death by a hydraulic door at the San Francisco Zoo. Her name means “little lady” in Swahili. Her mother didn’t want to care for her, so the keepers nurtured her until she was 6 months old. She then joined the gorilla group and became inseparable from her grandmother, Bawang. My friend took a photo of the two of them sitting together.
